Maths Family Night
The students at Roxburgh Park Primary School had a fun filled afternoon playing Mathas games with their families. It was great to see students applying their number sense in order to solve a range of problems in an engaging way.
There were door prizes on the night which included the following:
Third prize was a $30.00 gift card that could be used at JB Hifi, Smiggle, Rebel sports, Cotton on, Timezone etc, 20 assorted mini lollipops and a jumbo lollypop.
Second prize was a range of goodies including a grip ball set, playdough, stamps, textas, fake play money cash register, a calculator, lollypops, bubbles, bubble wands, playing cards, battle ships, connect 4, guess who, uno and lots more.
First prize was a billy cart worth $150.00 donated from Supreme Incursions! This Billy Cart was well recieved from the winning student and was an exciting activity to build as a family which involved plenty of maths in making and riding in it.
There was also an opportunity to guess how many lollies were in the jar. We had 90 different guesses and the person who guessed the closet to the exact amount took home the container. It was great to see families working together to try and guess, some people were using multiplication to try and help, hefting or using their knowledge of weight, trying to skip count, measuring roughly with their fingers and many more strategies.
All in all it was a very enjoyable and interactive night for our school community!
