Today our school leaders began their day with a train whistle instead of the school bell. We boarded the train heading to the city for the Annual Young Leaders Conference.
Taha was keen to listen to Jimmy Reeves, knowing him from TV and hearing his story. Seraj was excited to hear Melissa Barbieri, the Matildas former goal Keeper.
Bryson Klein, a two time Ninja Warrior Champion spoke about over coming fear and self doubt. Whether it was when he was rock climbing as a kid or in the grand final of Ninja Warrior in America, he pushed doubt to the side and focussed on his task.
“I really enjoyed hearing everyone story’s especially the former Matildas captain and goal keeper Melissa Barbier, she paved the way for girls in sport and adjusting her career path in order to achieve her goal. I also liked all the little dance breaks and games we played,” said Rayaan.
“The highlight for today was when we danced at the start of every session and listening to the soccer player called Melissa. Anastasia Woolmer impressed everyone by memorising 40 numbers in order and even reciting them backwards, explaining how she has learnt to improve her memory and study techniques,” explained Rawan.
All of our leaders came away knowing that back at Roxburgh Park Primary School, they can make improvements within themselves, and be role models and inspiration for others to achieve theirs.
